East Fife 1 Cowdenbeath 1

PostedAugust 29, 2009

The Blue Brazil picked up a point in the Fife derby with East Fife but the game should have been out of sight by the interval.

East Fife made the early running but it was Cowden who opened the scoring after only 12 minutes. Cowden won a corner on the right and Jay Stein's flag kick deceived Michael Brown to end up in the back of the net. The Blue Brazil gained confidence from the goal and took control of the game but could not add to the scoreline before the break despite dominating proceedings and creating a host of chances.

Stevie Crawford's side had the the lions share of possession in the 2nd half but their back to front style was causing little concern for the Beath rearguard until a corner was flicked on and sub Paul McManus headed home on 70 minutes. Both sides had opportunities to win the game but a draw was probably the fair result in the end.
