A late John Baird header denied Cowden a well-earned point in the Fife derby at Stark's Park on Tuesday night.
Jimmy Nicholl's team made a sluggish start to the game and suffered a blow after 24 minutes with Joe Mbu pulling up with an injury and replaced by Scott Linton.
Despite the set-back, Cowden limited the home side to few clear cut chances in the opening 45 minutes. From one of those chances David Hay pulled off a wonder save from Allan Walker but the keeper could not keep out Gregory Tade's effort seconds before the half-time whistle to give Rovers a deserved lead.
It was a different story after the break as a revitalised Cowden side took the game to Rovers and it was no surprise when Greg Stewart continued his scoring form to head home a Linton delivery from 8 yards.
The Blue Brazil had chances to win the game but were caught with a later sucker punch, John Armstrong had joined fellow centre half Mbu on the sidelines late on, as an unmarked Baird headed home with 5 minutes remaining to clinch the points for the Rovers.
