Frankie goes to Malta!

PostedJanuary 27, 2011

Cowdenbeath have come to a mutal agreement to release midfielder Brian Fairbairn with the player due to fly out to Malta this weekend to trial for Premier League side Hibernians FC.

'Frankie' joined the club in May 2008 from Berwick Rangers and was a key player in the successive promotions that have seen the Blue Brazil rise from the Third to the First Division. Fairbairn, who made 90 appearances scoring 13 goals, has found it difficult to hold down a starting place this season but has scored some important goals including the memorable free-kick against Dundee back in September. He is due to line up for Hibernians FC this Saturday alongside his former East Fife and Raith Rovers team mate Paul McManus.

"Frankie has played his part this season and is a great lad in the dressing rooom", said Jimmy Nicholl.

"However, he has not featured much recently in the starting eleven so we all wish him well in seeking first team football elsewhere."

Good luck for the future Frankie from all at Central Pak.
