Cowdenbeath exited a cup competition for the third time this season at the hands of lower league opposition as Peterhead won 2-0 in the third round of the Scottish Cup at the Balmoor Stadium.

Ryan Strachan opened the scoring 3 minutes before the interval and Neil McVitie took full advantage of the Cowden rearguard failing to clear their lines to double the advantage after 50 minutes.

On a positive note John Armstrong and Joe Mbu made their long awaited comebacks while skipper Mark Baxter also returned to the starting line up.
