Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v Morton

Posted October 22, 2010

The Blue Brazil boldly step out into the second quarter of the season with a home game against Greenock Morton.

The Central Park team suffered the disappointed of the late derby defeat against Raith Rovers last weekend but with 12 points from the opening nine games Cowden have nothing to fear against another full-time team that have already been defeated. But Jimmy Nicholl is under no illusions about how difficult this game will be.

"Without wanting to sound like a broken record this is another difficult game but they all are at this level", said Nicholl.

"Morton have really picked up since our last game and Allan Moore has really got them going again after a difficult start to the season. I watched them recently and they looked a completely different team from the one we faced at Capppielow.

"We have nothing to fear though as our boys are doing alright at the moment and have shown they can more than compete in the First Division. It is a home game and we will be looking to take the three points.

"It was disappointing to lose against Raith Rovers so late on,  and particularly to lose two headed goals from cross balls. But the boys done tremendously well to get into the winning position and there was much enouragement to take from the performance. I really enjoyed the second half and thought we were much more composed on the ball. We were missing a lot of players but the boys equiped themselves well and Mark Smith played particularly well on his first start."

Mark Ramsay is a doubt after going over his anke at training on Tuesday night while John Armstong, Joe Mbu and Kenny Adamson are all out along with Dene Droudge and Danny Mackay. Due to injuries at the back Nicholl expects to conclude a loan deal for an SPL defender in time for the match.
