Cowdenbeath 2 Dundee 1

PostedSeptember 25, 2010

JImmy Nicholl's Cowden side defied the odds once again after recording a famous 2-1 victory over promotion hopefulls Dundee in front of 1154 spectators at Central Park.

Mark Ramsay opened the scoring after 12 minutes when he shot home from 18 yards after nice set up play from Marc McKenzie. Brian Fairbairn doubled the advantage a minute before the break with a wonder 40 yard free-kick after Colin Cameron had been fouled.

Dundee came out with all guns blazing after the interval but the Blue Brazil defended heroically - led by sponsors man of the match David Hay - to win the game despite a late goal from Scotland under 21 striker Leigh Griffiths (82).

On the downside both Marc McKenzie and John Armstrong were stretchered off with McKenzie facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage.
