A fine away day at Cappielow saw Cowden move up to fourth place in the Irn-Bru First Division thanks to a 2-1 win over Greenock Morton.
Jimmy Nicholl's team more than matched their full-time rivals in a scrappy opening 45 minutes and the game was brought to life 7 minutes after the break after a 'World Cup' goal from Mark Ramsay put Cowden 1-0 up.
The home side equalised soon after with a Stewart Kean (59) header but John Dempster deservedly won the game for the Blue Brazil with 18 minutes remaining after latching onto a sublime through ball from Marc McKenzie and calmly slotting the ball past the keeper.
Joe Mbu made his long-awaited comeback from injury to cap a great afternoon after the big stopper replaced John Armstrong (head knock) at the interval.
