MATCH PREVIEW - TRANENT (A)

Posted February 15, 2025

It’s a second successive away day in the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League as we head to East Lothian to face Tranent at Foresters Park with a 3pm kick off.

On the opening day of the season, we had to comeback twice to earn a 2-2 draw at Central Park. Danny Handling and Euan Bauld twice had the Belters ahead with Aiden McLaughlin and Jamie twice replying for the Blue Brazil.

Rhys Walker returns to the squad after serving the second of his two match suspension last week.

THE OPPOSITION

They have won 12 of their 24 league games played so far against Bo’ness United (2-1 & 2-1), Hearts B (1-0), East Stirlingshire (3-1), Gala Fairydean Rovers (7-0 & 2-1), Civil Service Strollers (3-1), University of Stirling (5-0 & 3-0), Broomhill (3-0), Cumbernauld Colts (3-2) and Caledonian Braves (2-1).

They have had 6 draws against Cowden (2-2), Gretna 2008 (2-2), Linlithgow Rose (2-2), East Kilbride (3-3), Albion Rovers (2-2) and Celtic B (0-0). Their 6 defeats have come against Berwick Rangers (2-3), Albion Rovers (0-2), Celtic B (0-6), Broxburn Athletic (1-2), East Stirlingshire (1-3) and Civil Service Strollers (1-2).

In the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup they lost 4-0 to Dundee North End at North End Park. They also made a quick exit in the South Challenge Cup losing to holders East Kilbride 2-1 at K Park.

They however started their defence of the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League Cup with a 3-2 home win over Broxburn Athletic.

In the Scottish Junior Cup, they drew 0-0 with St Roch’s and won the penalty shoot out 5-4 at James McGrory Park. The then had another penalty shoot out win, 7-6 against Petershill, following a 2-2 draw at Petershill Park. That was then followed up with a 3-0 home win over West Park United which has set up an away Quarter Final Tie against Camelon Juniors.

PREVIOUS PARK'S MOTOR GROUP LOWLAND LEAGUE MEETINGS

The first meeting of the sides was in September 2022 when we lost 4-2 at Foresters Park with Ben Miller and Martin Maughan putting the hosts two up at the break. Scott Sinclair reduced the deficit early in the second half and Aiden Gilmartin levelled with three minutes to go. However, Craig Barr and Miller scored in stoppage time. The return game then saw the sides fight out a goal less draw at Central Park.

Last season we lost 2-0 at Central Park with Cammy Ross and Kallum Higginbotham scoring in each half. The return game saw Scott Gray score the only goal of the night to give his side a 1-0 win.
