Football fans always look forward to the launch of their club’s new away strip at the start of a campaign. Home jerseys for Cowden, as tradition demands, are always variants on a blue theme but the away choice allows for a broader palette to be used and for different themes to be explored.
We are also always keen to reference our club’s rich history when we make such choices and this season our away kit is indeed retro-themed - harking back to the days we were based at North End Park. This year’s away kit is based on Cowdenbeath FC’s traditional home colours in 1905 when the club first joined the Scottish League.
Cowden’s popular nickname back then was ‘the Signalmen’ and they played in a red & white striped jersey with blue shorts and socks (our current blue home jersey wasn’t adopted until 1911).
So for season 2024/25, Cowden once again will sport the Signalmen’s stripes as they proudly did over a century ago. So make sure you get your replica away strip for the season ahead and signal your support for Cowden!
And yes it also has a bit of an Atleti look!
The new Cowdenbeath FC away kit can be pre-ordered from our partners Football Nation now and will be available from the club shop at Central Park from Saturday 17th August when we welcome East Kilbride.
