New manager Dougie Hill has been busy as he settles into his new role. Two of his key aims were to bring in new coaching staff as well experienced players to assist the young talent we have on the books at Central Park. To those ends, Dougie has now agreed a deal whereby Stirling Albion centre-half and captain Paul McLean will be appointed as part of his management and coaching team. Paul (34) will also be signed as a player. Paul, of course, has had a distinguished and lengthy SPFL career including 10 years with Brechin City and a further 5 seasons with Stirling Albion – he was skipper at both Glebe Park and Forthbank. Paul will take up his new post at Cowdenbeath on expiry of his present contractual arrangements with Stirling Albion.
Speaking today after securing Paul’s agreement, Dougie Hill advised, "Delighted to get Paul in, I’ve been working hard on getting the right person in for a couple of weeks. I need experience to help the quality young players we have. Paul is the right type to do that, he’s a captain, a leader and a player I trust. He will be invaluable on the pitch and as part of the coaching staff."
Paul commented, "I’m delighted to be signing for the club and really enthusiastic to be working with Dougie and getting to know all the boys/staff. First and foremost, I’ll be looking to contribute in a big way on the park to bring success to the club but also excited to take the first step on my coaching journey."
