We caught up with Cowdenbeath FC lottery winner Chris Simpson yesterday. Chris becomes our third winner since the turn of the year. He heard the news of his win on Friday, the same day his wife came home after having been over in Austria for some months looking after her elderly parents. So all in all Friday was a very good day for Chris.
Chris has lived up in Aberdeen for many years where he worked initially in a paper mill and then as a chemist in the offshore oil industry. He has supported Cowden since he was a boy living in Moss-Side Road. One of his early memories is hearing the roar of the crowd from Central Park when Cowden played Rangers in the Scottish Cup in 1958 - a match he wasn’t allowed to attend as a youngster.
Many members of his family lived in Moss-Side Road and they will be well-remembered for the chip shop they had opposite the top of Wardlaw Street. Chris is badly missing the football - he enjoys driving down to Central Park and maybe stopping for a bite to eat on his way home after a victory. He currently watches Cowden on PPV but it’s no substitute for being there!
We look forward to welcoming Chris back to Central Park once that is possible but it’s always nice to see a long time Cowden fan winning the club lottery. Thanks also go to Chris for kindly donating part of his winnings back to the club.
