Central Park is blanketed in snow and snow continues to fall. Unsurprisingly that has led to tonight’s Fife Cup semi final at Central Park v Raith Rovers being postponed. The match will now be rearranged at a later date.
A 32 page programme has been produced for the match and will be on sale when the match is played – in the meantime anyone wishing a copy can obtain one from the Office at Central Park (price is £2.50). The programme is a special Fife Cup issue and is packed with content (no adverts just articles and pictures) – articles include: a history of the Fife Cup (with list of all winners and details of all the 50 or so clubs who have competed in the Fife Cup over the years); the lost Ne’erday games of Fife – Yetlins from East Wemyss and ‘a Bawbee She Kyles’ from Kirkcaldy; a look back at the years when the Fife Cup was played as a weekend tournament; the (other) Fife Cup aka the Wemyss Cup with details of all finals including venues and scorers; Fife Cup Characters – players of the past who included ‘Slammer of the Shipyard’, Scotland’s rugby skipper, a cricketer who played for Scotland v Don Bradman’s Australians, the man behind Brown’s Bazaar, the World Bowls Champion, an Olympic gold medallist, etc.: last year’s final; this season’s tournament; the Kings of Fife – who can actually claim the honour of being Fife’s top club over the years?; Fife’s Football Heraldry; Fife’s Charity Cup competitions; the (not just) Fife Cup aka the Penman Cup with details of all finals including scorers and venues; Fife Amateur Cup winners over the years; a short history of the Fife Referee’s Association, a Raith Rovers’ Irn Bru advert of yesteryear and more.
