We close what has been a disappointing January with our first visit of the season to Forthbank Stadium on Wednesday night to face Stirling Albion in the first of our rearranged fixtures with a 7.45 p.m. kick off.
Whilst we were going down 3-1 at home to Berwick on Saturday afternoon the Albion eventually lost 2-1 at league leaders Montrose after leading 1-0 at the break thanks to a Darren Smith goal with former Cowden man Craig Johnston coming off the bench to level for the Gable Endies before Matty Allan bagged the winner with nine minutes to go to send his four points clear at the top of the table.
Saturday's result saw the one time leaders fall to sixth place in the table although they are just three points behind fourth place Elgin having played two games less than the Borough Briggs side.
For Cowden both top scorer Robbie Buchanan and midfielder Kyle Miller are eligible for the midweek trip having served their suspensions at the weekend although assistant manager Mark Fotheringham still has a one game ban to serve.
Forthbank was the last venue that we won an away game back in April when Dale Carrick hit a brace along with Kris Renton in a 3-0 win. The Binos however won by a similar score on their visit to Central Park in October with goals from Darren Smith, Peter MacDonald and Neil McLaughlin.
COWDEN FIVE GAME FORM
A draw at Montrose (1-1) has saw our only point in the last five outings which have seen four defeats against Peterhead (2-3), Edinburgh City (0-2), Elgin (0-1) and Berwick (1-3).
Top Scorer - Robbie Buchanan (4).
STIRLING FIVE GAME FORM
The Albion have won once and lost four of their last five games. The win was a 2-0 home win over Berwick. They have lost twice to Montrose (0-1 & 1-2), Stenhousemuir (1-2) and Peterhead (3-4).
Top Scorer - Darren Smith (18).
