This afternoon we open our Betfred Cup Group C games when we welcome Highland League champions Buckie Thistle for what is their first ever visit to Central Park with a 3 p.m. kick off.
The game will of course be Billy Brown's first competitive match in charge of the side since taking over from Gary Locke a fortnight ago.
It has been a pre season build up for us with only one public game which saw a 3-2 home win over Championship outfit Queen of the South after being 2-0 down at the break three weeks ago.
With such an early start to the cup it is very much a still in progress side with the manager still running the rule over potential trialists in training and closed door games as he looks to build his squad ahead of the League Two opener at Elgin on 5th August.
Buckie managed by Graeme Stewart , a son in law of former Cowden boss Jimmy Nicholl, had a dramatic close to last season clinching the league title on the last day on goal difference but went on to lose the Pyramid Play off to East Kilbride.
