Posted July 31, 2016
It was a game of two halves at Bayview on Saturday afternoon as the Methil side came back from being two goals down at the break to win the final friendly match of the pre season build up.
Cowden opened the scoring with 19 minutes gone when Todorov slotted the ball through to KRIS RENTON and the big striker slotted home from close range at the second attempt after keeper Ryan Goodfellow had blocked his initial effort.
Minutes later keeper Jamie Sneddon had to be alert to pull off a save after Ross Mutch had beaten the offside trap. With 25 minutes gone Cowden went further ahead when Kyle MILLER dispossessed Slattery at the halfway line and ran into fire an angled shot high into the roof of the net.
Sneddon then done well again to block a shot from Ross Brown as the first half drew to a close.
The Methilmen introduced Kevin SMITH at the start of the second half and he was to play a major role for them in the second period scoring twice. It took him only ten minutes to reduced the score when he fired home a deflected shot from seven yards.
East Fife then got back on level terms with 15 minutes to go when SLATTERY made amends for his error at Miller's goal by shooting home from the edge of the box, but almost straight from kick off Glen saw a shot come off the East Fife post.
The winner then came with six minutes remaining when SMITH shot home an angled 20 yard shot high into the Cowden net.
