A goal three minutes from time gave the Loons a narrow win in a dramatic Development League opener at Central Park on Tuesday night.
The visitors had the better of the first half and opened the scoring with 26 minutes when a cross from Jamie Gill was met by Dayle ROBERTSON who slotted the ball past Hunter from close range.
However four minutes from the break Cowden grabbed an equaliser when Cameron MUIRHEAD fired home a low 16 yard shot.
Cowden started the second period the brighter of the two sides but it was the visitors who restored their lead with 67 minutes gone when Frank DEVINE curled a 20 yard free kick into the top corner of the net.
Once again Cowden drew level in 76 minutes when visiting keeper Jason King saw a clearance hit Luke ARMSTRONG who then rolled the ball into the net.
Last season's champions however grabbed the points three minutes from time when ROBERTSON fired home his second goal of the night with Jack Wright being sent off for dissent.
An Armstrong effort was cleared off the line as the game went into stoppage time while Josh Wilson became the second home player to be sent off following an altercation with Cameron Clark who was booked.
