Cowdenbeath Football Club and Cowdenbeath United junior club are pleased to announce that they are to form a new Community Football Partnership.
The two Clubs already have close ties but the new Partnership will see Cowdenbeath United playing in Cowdenbeath Football Kit with both Clubs crests displayed. Initially Cowdenbeath United will play an Under 13 Team in the Fife Football Development League but it is planned to also have the teams currently participating in the Fife Soccer 7s from P2 to P7 age groups wearing the Cowdenbeath FC colours as well as hopefully forming a girls football team.
As part of the partnership, Cowdenbeath United will supply Ball Boys to Cowdenbeath FC for this seasons Championship and U20 games and will also play half time games against other local teams. Cowdenbeath United Players will also be admitted free to this seasons U20 matches.
On behalf of Cowdenbeath FC, Director Tom Ewing said” With Cowdenbeath FC now part of the Fife Elite Football Academy, we wanted to ensure we continue to provide opportunities for local kids to play football and maintain a link to the Club. By enhancing our Partnership with Cowdenbeath United, we can achieve that aim and give kids the chance to be part of Cowdenbeath FC and be close to the action in this seasons exciting SPFL Championship. We are again supported by our sponsor Kennedy Renewables who have kindly donated the playing kit for the Under 13 team.”
For Cowdenbeath United, Club Chairman Gordon Anderson said “ This extends our already excellent relationship with Cowdenbeath FC and provides a platform for our Club to develop new talent from the local area as well as providing our players the opportunity to work or play at some big games in this seasons Championship. Just being around the Club at these games and the Under 20 matches will give our players the insight to what is required to become a professional footballer.”
Cowdenbeath United are still finalising their squad for the Under 13 Team and any interested players born in 2002 should contact Hazel on 07747 014896.
