Cowden Win at Blyth

PostedJuly 13, 2014

Blyth Spartans 1 Cowdenbeath 4

Four second half goals saw us opening our public friendly games with a win at a sunny Croft Park on Saturday afternoon, with young Craig Johnston coming off the bench to bag a brace.

Robbie Dale had given the Evo Stik Premier Division side a half time lead with a goal seven minutes from the interval. Johnston however grabbed an equaliser with 67 minutes gone and eight minutes later we took the lead when John Armstrong headed home from a corner.

With seven minutes to go Lewis Milne put us further ahead before Johnston grabbed his second goal of the afternoon with a few minutes to go.

Our trip to Croft Park proved to be a useful exercise in our build up to the Championship season ahead and Blyth Spartans were excellent hosts and we would like to wish them all the best in the quest to return to the Conference North.

Our pre-season build up continues next Saturday when we face Linfield at Bangor before our last friendly game at home to St Mirren on 22nd July.
