Under 19s Start With Defeat

PostedAugust 26, 2013

The under 19 side opened their Youth Division campaign with a defeat from last season's champions Queen's Park at Dunfermline High School on Sunday afternoon.
It was a much changed line up from last season's squad which took the field with most of the side comprising of first year players with Aron Lynas and Ben Anthony being the only regulars from last season playing.
The Spiders took the lead in 18 minutes through a trialist before Ben Anthony slotted home an equaliser from 16 yards three minutes later. However four minutes from the break the visitors restored their lead when a 30 yard free kick from another Trialist was saved by Callum Speedie but bounced off the post and into the net.
Just short of the hour we had a good shout for a penalty when Anthony appeared to be fouled in the box but play was waived on and Queen's got a third goal with 65 minutes gone when Paul Brown fired home an angled shot in off the post.
Eleven minutes later the scoring was completed for the afternoon with a trialist scoring despite the best efforts of Liam Dunn to stop his shot on the line.
TEAM: Callum Speedie, Jack Wright, Reece Sawers, Liam Dunn, Jordan McNeill, Aron Lynas, Declan Byrne, Greig Renton, Blair Springhall (Ryan McDonald 69) , Ben Anthony (Luke Pringle 79) & Ethan Anderson (Jamie Bouhaddou 46). Subs not used - Brad Hainey & Shaun Hunter.
Next week the under 19s have an away derby with East Fife.
