Fife Cup Preview

PostedAugust 28, 2012

We take a break from the First Division as we head to the Recreation Ground to face Burntisland Shipyard in the First Round of the Fife Cup on Tuesday night (kick-off 6.30 p.m.).

The game will give Colin Cameron the opportunity to give some of our fringe players some vital game time.

‘Shippy’ are now competing in the First Division of the East of Scotland League after many years in the amateur ranks and beat Ormiston 1-0 on Saturday in their opening league game.

We head into the tie on the back of four successive league and cup wins during which time we haven’t conceded a goal.

Burntisland’s competitive season kicked off with the East of Scotland Qualifying Leagues in a section along with Duns, Edinburgh City, Gala Fairydean and Tynecastle eventually finishing in 4th place with 4 points from 4 games.

After a 4-1 home win over Gala they drew 2-2 with Edinburgh City in the capital before losing 4-2 at Duns and 2-0 at home to group winners Tynecastle.

In the William Hill Scottish Cup they lost 6-1 at Highland League Turriff United before Saturday’s league win over Ormiston.
